PM Standards
PM Standards is ProBeya's governance and methodology compliance module. It brings structured project management frameworks into the platform — including PMBOK v8 Performance Domains, Focus Area tracking, PMO configuration and service catalogs, Governance Reviews, and support for multiple methodologies such as PM2 2025, P3.express, micro.P3, P5.express, and NUPP.
This module ensures that projects follow recognized standards and governance structures, which is especially critical in regulated industries like pharmaceuticals.
Overview
Without a governance framework, project management devolves into ad hoc decisions. PM Standards solves this by:
- Providing structured health assessments across the 7 PMBOK v8 performance domains
- Tracking focus areas (process groups) through their lifecycle stages
- Configuring a PMO with maturity levels and service catalogs
- Scheduling and recording governance reviews (phase gates, steering committees, audits)
- Supporting methodology selection to match the right framework to each project size
Getting Started
- Navigate to PM Standards from the PPM menu.
- Choose a methodology for your project (PMBOK v8 is the default for large projects).
- Initialize the 5 focus areas for the project.
- Begin recording performance domain assessments as the project progresses.
How It Works
PMBOK v8 Performance Domains
The 7 performance domains provide a holistic view of project health:

Focus Areas (Process Groups)
Projects using PMBOK v8 track progress through 5 focus areas:
- Initiating — project charter, stakeholder identification
- Planning — scope, schedule, cost, risk planning
- Executing — deliverable production, team management
- Monitoring & Controlling — variance analysis, change control
- Closing — formal closure, lessons learned
Each focus area has a status (not_started, in_progress, completed) and a completion timestamp.

Governance reviews are formal checkpoints in the project lifecycle:

- Audits: compliance and quality checks
Reviews follow a lifecycle: scheduled → in progress → completed (with decision and action items).
PM2 2025 Support
For organizations using the EU Open PM2 methodology, the module provides:
- Programme Logs: 6 types of structured programme records
- Governance Roles: Business Manager, Project Owner, Solution Provider assignments
- Mindset Assessments: evaluation against the 13 PM2 mindsets
NUPP Alignment
NUPP (Nearly Universal Principles of Projects) alignment checks verify that projects adhere to 6 fundamental principles regardless of which methodology they use.

- Project Managers can record assessments, update focus areas, and view governance reviews
- PMO Directors can configure PMO settings and manage the service catalog
- Steering Committee Members can create and complete governance reviews
- Organization Admins have full access to all PM Standards features
Tips & Best Practices
Run performance domain assessments monthly and track the radar chart trend over time. A declining domain score is an early warning signal that deserves attention before it becomes a crisis.
Use NUPP alignment checks as a baseline for all projects, regardless of which primary methodology you adopt. The 6 principles are universal and catch fundamental gaps.
Choose micro.P3 for small projects under 6 months. Using a heavyweight methodology on a small project creates bureaucratic overhead without proportional benefit.
